Dear Members of the Good Samaritan Community
I trust that the ultimate joys of Easter 2020 were still able to be shared with your immediate family in these most unusual times and the opportunity to be so closely connected was an unexpected bonus of our current social restrictions.
Following the recent announcements by Ms Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Premier, and the Departments of Health and Education, along with advice from Sydney Catholic Schools [SCS], I am in a position to inform you of the current plans for students to have a staggered return to Good Samaritan in discrete phases. As you were advised last week by SCS we will be continuing with remote learning across Phase 1 of Term 2: Weeks 1 and 2 for Years 7 – 11.
I am truly excited to let you know that we are implementing Phase 2.0 of the staggered return to Good Samaritan. We can have Year 12 students bringing life to our school!!
Phase 2.0 Week 2 [For Years 12 only]
As of Monday 4th May [Week 2] Year 12 classes will run each day as per their College timetable, i.e. Monday ‘B’ next Monday.
Over the next three Tuesday afternoons Year 12 classes will cease after Period 3 [12:15pm] and students have the option to either go home for study or stay at the College to study. Year 12 students with extension subjects will have their normal Tuesday afternoon class and students with major works due will also have practical classes at this time. Teachers will only be on site to teach Year 12 and a skeleton staff to supervise those students requiring supervision.
Phase 2.1 Weeks 3 & 4 [For Years 7 – 12]
As of Monday 11th May [Week 3] Year 12 classes will run each day as per their College timetable with one additional Year Group in each day on a rotational roster. Teachers will only be on site to teach Year 12 and the additional year group at the College each day. The following table details these arrangements;
Remote (R) = majority of students learning from home, some supervision provided for students in need of care as is currently the case. Teachers will only be on site to teach Year 12 and the additional year group at the College each day.
Face to Face (ftf) = students attend the College for instruction and class interaction.
Phase 3 [Years 7 – 12]
As of Week 5 we anticipate that all students will be back at Good Samaritan following their regular timetables. As you would appreciate all of these arrangements are made understanding that circumstances could change at short notice pending medical advice from NSW Health and or the NSW Government.
I will re-confirm these arrangements for Years 7 – 11 with you next week along with information on how we are arranging class spaces in Phase 2, as well as cleaning and hygiene protocols that will add to the wellbeing of our students, staff and essential visitors.
With every best wish and stay safe
Mr J Corcoran
