GSCC NewsReel

The College and wider community helped celebrate the commencement of NAIDOC Week today. Although the official national commencement is the 7th July around the country, schools from around the region; which included Good Shepherd and St Therese Primary School, along with members from the Hoxton Park Elders Group, helped celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Good Samaritan Catholic College choir sang the Aboriginal Our Father.

Former NRL footballer Beau Champion also attended, and gave an inspiring speech to the students. He regularly works in schools and in community programs that is designed to support indigenous children around Australia. In addition to his playing career, Beau has worked as an ambassador with Kari and Souths Cares. He gave a very moving speech about making informed decisions in life and that doing your best now, will bring forward rewards in the future.

This special event was streamed live for the College Community by the Special Events and Media Team. To watch it now, go to youtu.be/lnI8fg_1UUw
