Community joins in spirit for Easter

"He is not here: for He has risen!" Matthew 28:6-7

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He for once you go into Galilee; there shall you see Him: As I have told you".

Matthew 28:6-7

It would normally be a time to meet with family and friends on Easter Sunday every year, to share the Easter celebrations, and to go to church to show our faith. But in 2020, it was really different. We weren't allowed to celebrate this in our churches because of the laws to battle the Coronavirus. But we celebrated it in spirit with everyone else.

Many of us watched it online. It definitely wasn't the same as going to church, but at least we had something to share in spirit to celebrate the meaning of Easter. The screenshot below was taken from the Easter Sunday Mass that Br Pat celebrated at GSCC.

The Easter Sunday Mass was Celebrated by Br Pat and it was streamed for all to see on the Good Samaritan Catholic College Youtube Channel and Twitter Page. This allowed many people like families to see the masses and celebrate Holy Week from their homes. There have been around 4000 views so far of the liturgies that we helped stream for the people in our community.

When GSCC was given the opportunity to help Br Pat stream the masses, the Media Team was more than happy to help. There were rules in place for how many people were allowed in an area at a time, so all the vision equipment was set up in the back overflow area with everything else shut to the chapel. The limits only allowed a handful of our team members to actually prepare and process everything on the days that we filmed.

All in all, the team hopes that everyone in the community was able to join in the Masses for Holy Week, especially during these times where restrictions are currently in place.

Upcoming events and updates on future happenings at GSCC will continue to be put through the College website.
