The recent tour to Channel 7 Studios in Eveleigh was an inspiring and unforgettable experience for our Special Events & Media Team, where they were given a rare behind-the-scenes look at the workings of a leading media organisation.
During the tour, the students explored the bustling 7NEWS newsroom and control rooms, where they learned firsthand about the roles and responsibilities of the news team. They also had the privilege of visiting the state-of-the-art studios and witnessing the fast-paced environment where news stories were produced and broadcast daily.
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to meet prominent 7NEWS presenters Michael Usher and Gemma Acton. The team were captivated as Michael and Gemma shared their experiences with working in the media industry and offered invaluable advice to those looking at pursuing careers in journalism and broadcasting. The presenters’ insights were both motivating and eye-opening for the students.
In addition to meeting the media professionals, the team engaged in hands-on activities, including reading from the autocue and recording a short news video. This practical experience allowed them to immerse themselves in the production processes, gaining essential skills and a true sense of what it takes to deliver news on a large scale.
The tour left the students inspired, with many expressing excitement about exploring future careers in the media industry. The day was a perfect blend of education and excitement, where it gave our Media Team a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of media production while equipping them with valuable skills for their future endeavours.
A special thanks goes out to Channel 7 for making this extraordinary experience possible, and to our school community for continuing to support and encourage the incredible talents of our students. This memorable day will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on all who attended.
