This year, our Girls Bill Turner Trophy team once again showcased incredible talent, resilience, and team spirit throughout their campaign.
Round 1: A Strong Start
The girls came out firing in their opening match against Cabramatta High School, carrying forward momentum from a strong 2024 squad. With a few exciting new additions bringing fresh energy to the side, the team delivered a truly dominant performance, claiming a remarkable 12-0 victory. Our young goalkeeper was in top form, making it nearly impossible for the opposition to score, while the entire team demonstrated both exceptional sportsmanship and skill.
Round 2: Overcoming Early Nerves
The second round saw the girls face off against East Hills Girls High School—a much tougher opponent. A slow and cautious start made for some big nerves on the sideline, but the team’s composure and determination shone through. With well executed teamwork and persistence, the girls secured a confident 4-0 win.
Round 3: A Hard-Fought Battle
Heading into the third round, we knew the challenge would be tough. Just days before the match, the team suffered a major setback with a key midfielder and playmaker sidelined due to injury. Despite this, the girls pulled together, training hard and entering the game with strong determination. We moved in to half time with the score at 0-0, reflecting the grit and effort from both sides. Unfortunately, injuries to our defensive line early in the second half led to a breakthrough for the opposition, and the game ended in a narrow loss.
While the result wasn't in our favour, both coaches are incredibly proud of the team's efforts, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. This group of young athletes have laid a strong foundation for the rest of the SCS Conference season and future competitions.
Heads up, girls—your time is coming.
