On Thursday 21st August, the GSCC Learning Centre proudly hosted our annual
Book Week All- Day Readathon, celebrating this year’s theme: “Book an Adventure”.
Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and highlight the work of talented Australian children’s author’s and illustrators. Our library came alive with activities, competitions, and displays of the latest novel’s, including this year’s
Children’s Book Council of Australia award winners.
Students enjoyed taking part in fun challenges such as “Guess the Book in the Jar” and “How many Jelly Beans in the Jar?” The day was filled with excitement, laughter and plenty of reading adventures.
We would like to thank all students and staff who participated in the Readathon and activities – it was a fantastic day of celebrating reading, exploring new novels and authors, and even making new friendships along the way.
A special congratulations goes to our competition winners:
Marybelle Haj Moussa ( Year 10) – Winner of Guess the Jelly Beans in the Jar
Olivia Coleiro ( Year9) – Winner of Guess the Book in the Jar
Mr J Butcher ( Staff) – Winner of Guess the Book in the Jar
We look forward to next year’s Book Week celebrations. Until then, keep turning the pages and exploring new adventures in the wonderful world of Books!
