Everyone Belongs! Highlights from Harmony Week 2024

Good Samaritan Catholic College recently celebrated Harmony Week. It was a great opportunity for our school community to embrace diversity and inclusivity among students and the wider community.

This year the College organised a vibrant Harmony Day celebration where students were able to showcase their unique cultures to the school. This was done through a variety of performances each day, cultural bell sounds and various international foods sold during recess and lunch.

Part of Harmony Week saw traditional dances and songs performed by our students to showcase to the school community. The Samoan Dance performance on Monday was a mesmerising display of Polynesian culture. The vibrant costumes and traditional dances truly reflected their rich cultural heritage.

This was followed by a Fijian-Indian performance on Tuesday. The celebration went beyond cultural dances, where Katelyn from Year 12 delivered a deeply moving cultural song to the audience.

The rest of the week was further celebrated with Latin and Hispanic dances, a special Bollywood performance, and finally a Middle Eastern dance on Friday. It truly was a multicultural week.

A BBQ was organised to raise money for Project Compassion, and there were also many international foods from around the world sold during recess and lunch.

Harmony Week at Good Samaritan Catholic College was once again a remarkable success which showcased the vibrant diversity and unique individuality within our school. Thanks to the incredible efforts of both our students and teachers, we came together to celebrate and appreciate our wonderful multicultural and diverse community.
