GSCC Sports Update

It has been an outstanding term of sport for Good Samaritan Catholic College, with our students achieving success across a wide range of competitions and representing the College with pride, commitment and sportsmanship.

SCS Interschool Sport – Winter Season Success

Our Winter season teams have enjoyed tremendous success in the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Interschool Sport competition. Congratulations to our Junior Boys Soccer, Intermediate Boys Soccer and Intermediate Girls Netball teams, who have all qualified for their respective Conference Grand Finals in Week 10.

Adding to this achievement, all three teams have also progressed to the SCS Sydney Championship Quarter-Finals, which will be contested in Week 11. We wish these teams the very best as they continue their campaigns.

Thank you to all of our athletes for their dedication throughout the season and to our coaches, whose generosity and commitment of time make these opportunities possible for our students.

SCS Conference Chess Gala Day

Our students recently participated in the SCS Conference Chess Gala Day and enjoyed a highly successful and competitive day of competition. The strong results achieved are a testament to the growth of chess within the College and the positive impact of the newly established GSCC Chess Club.

The Chess Club meets every Tuesday at lunchtime and is expertly coordinated by Mrs Baker. We thank Mrs Baker for her enthusiasm and commitment to developing this opportunity for our students.

South West Sydney Regional Oztag Gala Day

Good Samaritan Catholic College was proudly represented at the South West Sydney Regional Oztag Gala Day this term, with our Senior teams displaying excellent teamwork, skill and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The gala day provided a valuable opportunity for students to compete against schools from across the region while further developing their understanding and enjoyment of the game. We congratulate all players on their efforts and Mr. O’Brien, who supported the teams on the day.

Football NSW School Futsal Tournament

Our Senior and Intermediate Boys and Girls teams recently competed in the Football NSW School Futsal Tournament – Bankstown Regional Championships.

All four teams performed exceptionally well, progressing through to the semi-final stage of the competition. Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls team, who finished as regional finalists, and to our Intermediate Boys team, who were crowned regional champions.

As a result of their outstanding performances, both Intermediate teams have qualified for the Football NSW State Finals later this year. We look forward to following their progress and wish them every success.

SCS Cross Country

A number of our students represented the College at the SCS Cross Country Championships this term. Competing against some of the strongest distance runners across Sydney Catholic Schools, our students demonstrated resilience, determination and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. We congratulate all participants on their efforts and commitment to training and competition.

Volleyball NSW Schools Cup

Our intermediate Volleyball teams also represented the College in the Volleyball NSW Schools Cup this term. The competition provided students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills, compete against quality opposition and strengthen team connections. We thank all players, Mr Pacchiarotta and Miss Cornale for their efforts and representation of the College.
