Congratulations to the Good Samaritan Catholic College Hinchinbrook Class of 2023 on your outstanding Higher School Certificate (HSC) results!
We recorded 60 Distinguished Achievers, one All Rounder and one Top Achiever.
Our results also included a First in Course award, with Jaquelyn Loria placing first in the state in Tourism, Travel and Events Examination.
The one All Rounder achieved Band 6s in ten units of their pattern of study, with a further 70 Band 6s achieved across the cohort.
Concentration on 'Knowing your Learner[s]' has seen enhancements in learning outcomes for our HSC students with a focussed targeting of literacy skills across the whole school.
In comparing accumulative Bands 5 and 6, four courses were above the statistically significant figure of 5% above the state average, five courses were higher than 10% above the state average, two were above 15% above the state average and six were more than 20% above the state average.
A total of 20 courses were above the state average in cumulative Bands 5 & 6.
Good Samaritan Catholic College Principal James Corcoran congratulated Year 12 on a fantastic effort. “Observing our school's results brought an initial surge of pride as subjects surpassed the state average with the extended efforts of students and staff culminating in another year of academic endeavour.
“The key to our HSC successes lies in our staff's expertise and unwavering commitment, consistently going the extra mile for our students.
“What impressed me most about the Class of 2023 was their remarkable compatibility and admirable compliance to achieve excellence together,” Mr Corcoran said.
This year 66% of subjects were above state average, with three subjects reaching the statistically noteworthy benchmark of being more than 5% higher than the state average.
“We are very pleased with the HSC results, ATARS and workplace and training achievements of the Class of 2023, who completed a HSC with the challenges of lockdowns in 2020 and 2021,” Mr Corcoran said.
SUCCESS ACROSS THE SYSTEM
Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) has once again achieved outstanding results in the 2023 Higher School Certificate (HSC) with nine of its 33 secondary schools ranked among the top 100 high schools in NSW.
A total of 18 schools ranked among the top 150 high schools—one more than last year—strengthening SCS’s position as one of the top performing systems in Australia.
SCS recorded an impressive 2780 Distinguished Achievers, 47 Top Achievers and 67 All Rounders.
Notably, eight SCS students also received HSC First in Course honours.
“The lessons they have learnt and the resilience they have grown will make them young Australians from South Western Sydney that we can be rightly proud of,” Mr Corcoran said.

The staff at the College would also like to recognise the absolutely foundational work that these students’ primary school educators have done in developing their social, emotional, literacy and numeracy skills in their 13-year educational journey.
We work with these young people with the pronounced advantage of their Primary Education.
