Introducing the new GSCC Book Club

This week we held the very first meeting of our new GSCC Book Club in the library. Meeting every Wednesday at recess, Book Club is a welcoming space for students to read, share recommendations and discover new books with fellow readers. It was lovely to have so many students from all different year groups attend our first session this week.

Reading has many benefits, including improving vocabulary, building imagination, reducing stress and helping students develop empathy by experiencing different perspectives and stories. It is also a great way to relax and unwind during a busy school week. Reading is an essential skill for writing.

We are excited to welcome new members at any time—everyone is welcome, whether you love fantasy, mystery, graphic novels, non-fiction or anything in between!

Our next meeting will be on the final Wednesday of term, July 1st. It will be a relaxed reading session to finish off the long term. Students are encouraged to bring along a book they are currently reading or have been wanting to start and enjoy some quiet reading time (and maybe a yummy snack) with other book lovers. We look forward to seeing you there!
