As we near the end of term, several exciting activities are planned for our PDHPE students!
Year 8 students will be heading to Bondi and Cronulla beaches to participate in a Surf Awareness Program, where they'll learn essential skills for staying safe at the beach.
Year 10 students will attend a Surf Awareness excursion at Long Reef, gaining valuable insights into ocean safety and surf conditions. They will also have the opportunity to earn their CPR certification later this term. This training covers:
DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations
Managing unconscious breathing casualties
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Using a defibrillator (AED)
Legal considerations in first aid
Infection control practices
Additionally, here is a free course available for PDHPE students:
St John Driver First Aid Course: This introductory course in first aid is FREE and aims to equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to respond in unexpected roadside situations. The course covers:
Checking and supporting an airway
Managing wounds and bleeding
Treating broken bones
Performing CPR
Finally, we wish our Year 7-9 PDHPE students every success in their upcoming exams! Here are a few tips to help them stay focused and perform their best:
Plan and Prioritise: Read the assessment notification carefully, create study notes, and complete any revision booklets provided by your teachers.
Take Care of Yourself: Remember to get enough rest, eat healthy meals, and stay hydrated.
Stay Positive: Focus on your progress, celebrate small achievements, and keep a positive outlook to stay motivated and confident.
Good luck to all!
