It has been a fantastic start to the term for school sport and enrichment at Good Samaritan Catholic College. Our students continue to demonstrate pride, resilience, and a genuine passion for representing our community across a wide range of competitions and learning opportunities.

Our Representative sport teams have launched into Term 3 with energy and determination across the weekly AFL, Rugby 7s and All Abilities 7‑Aside Football competitions. Students have shown outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship, and it has been wonderful to see so many athletes stepping forward to represent Good Sam. Competition will continue throughout Thursday afternoons as prepare for the Conference Finals.

Both our Junior and Intermediate Boys represented the College proudly at the Wanderers Cup State Finals. Our Intermediate team delivered a brilliant campaign, narrowly missing a grand final berth after a tight semi‑final against the team that went on to win the championship. Their effort, discipline, and spirit were exceptional.

2026 marks our inaugural year in expanding Chess opportunities for students, and what a start it has been We competed in the Sydney Academy of Chess Regional Gala Day, finishing 1st place overall as a school. A special congratulations to Javen (Year 7), who went undefeated and claimed 1st place in the individual standings. Our team now progresses to the Regional Semi Finals at Cecil Hills High School on Wednesday 26 August.

We were proud to send a large and enthusiastic contingent to the SCS Conference Athletics Carnival. Our athletes competed with determination, and many have now qualified for the Sydney Championships Athletics Carnival on Friday 28 August. This event will be live‑streamed, and we encourage families to keep an eye on Compass for viewing links so our community can rally behind the Good Sam Athletics Team.

Our U16 Boys and U16 Girls Futsal teams both dominated their regional gala days earlier this year and have now qualified for the State Finals. They will compete at the Hawkesbury PCYC on 25 August, and we wish them every success as they take on the best teams in NSW.

Another exciting opportunity introduced this year is Tournament of Minds, led by Miss Ilic and a dedicated team of Year 10 students. Tournament of Minds is a nationally recognised program that builds problem‑solving, creativity, enterprise, time management, and collaborative discipline. Our team will present their work at St Gregory’s College on Saturday 29 August — a wonderful milestone for their learning journey.

We have proudly competed in the SCS Tennis Gala Days for both boys and girls, with strong performances across all divisions. We now look forward to the upcoming Softball/Baseball and Goalball carnivals later this term — more opportunities for students to get involved and represent Good Sam with pride.
